RAZOR WIRE
A cage is not meant for a person
yeah it’s not meant to be at all
pouring rain
the tents
the dirt floor
this time comes now
it’s been before
when jet planes bomb
and war lords torture
people run and we’d run too
island hell no point pretending
some try to hide from what they do
from building up fences
and spreading them round
that separate people
that lower us down
a breach in the wall
so we’re building it higher
some talk of control
but they’re playing with fire
and you can’t make this mad world sane
with razor wire
a child’s drawing shows a sad face
a strong man ends and starts to fall
a mother runs and grabs her baby
a teacher talks and loses all
fences can fall we can let the hurt end
we’re not there yet but we could be again

You put all your love into your dreams
now it hurts you to be alone
in your private world
there’s a cold wind blowing through your heart
as you lose your grip
on the one you love
fearing you are bound to lose
what you cannot live without
you trade your dreams to get your way
you see them broken and swept away
to keep yourself arms length from you
you drink too much to confuse
you do not want to see what’s true
you do not want to feel the blues
all you want comes in time
with the feeling in your heart
